Why is the first call free?
In the 20-minute call we listen to you and decide on the specialist and approach that suit your need. The aim is to spare you from paying before the right match is found.
How long are sessions and how often?
Individual sessions last 50 minutes and couple and family sessions 75 minutes. Most courses are weekly; frequency can increase during crisis or intensive work periods.
Is what I say really confidential?
Yes. Apart from a serious and imminent risk of harm to yourself or others, suspected child abuse and a court order, no information is shared without your permission. Details are on the Ethical Principles page.
How long does therapy take?
The duration depends on the issue and the goal. Anxiety and panic may take 8–20 sessions, while working on deeper patterns may need 20 or more. We review progress together every 6 sessions.
Does a psychologist prescribe medication?
No. Medication assessment is the job of psychiatrists. When needed we refer you to psychiatrists we trust and share information with them with your permission.
What if I want to cancel or reschedule?
You can cancel or reschedule for free up to 24 hours before. For later cancellations the full session fee is charged; we are flexible in emergencies.
Can I get an invoice or insurance reimbursement?
An e-archive invoice is issued for every payment. Some private health insurers reimburse psychological counselling; check your policy with your insurer.
Is online therapy as effective as in-person?
Studies show similar effectiveness for many issues including anxiety, depression and relationship problems. In acute crisis and severe symptoms, in-person meetings are recommended.
Can I find out what is discussed in my child's therapy?
The child's privacy is protected; but general progress, goals and what can be done at home are shared in regular parent meetings. Matters that threaten safety are of course reported.
