EMDR and trauma-focused CBT that reduce the effects of traumatic experiences such as accidents, loss, abuse or natural disasters.
2,800 TRY per session
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy method recommended by the World Health Organization that helps the brain reprocess traumatic memories. Together with trauma-focused CBT, it is one of the first-line treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder.
What experiences is it used for?
- Traffic accidents, surgery and sudden loss
- A history of childhood neglect and abuse
- Symptoms after earthquakes, fires and other disasters
- Nightmares, sudden returning memories and an exaggerated startle response
How do sessions proceed?
The first 2–3 sessions are preparation: safe-place work, emotion-regulation skills and a plan for the memories. In the reprocessing phase the memory is recalled together with rhythmic eye movements or tactile stimulation; at the end of the session a calming exercise is done. For a single traumatic event, 6–12 sessions are often enough; in complex trauma the duration is longer.
Emotional intensity can occur during sessions; this is normal and the therapist supports you throughout.
